Pedro Pascal keeps busy. He released five projects last year and has five upcoming this year, not including that cute AirPods commercial. But, that does include Freaky Tales, four interconnected stories set in 1987 Oakland, CA. It’s written and directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, the team who also wrote and directed Captain Marvel. If they keep producing retro movies, I will assume they’re time travelers stuck in their own future. How’s that for a freaky tale?

Freaky Tales also stars Ben Mendelsohn, Jay Ellis (Running Point), West Coast rapper Too $hort, Jack Champion (Avatar: The Way of Water), Marteen, and a bunch of actors whose character names are all listed as “Operation Ivy,” and I’m super interested in finding out what THAT means.

Freaky Tales premieres in theaters today, April 4th.

The Four Seasons was a super boring, very grown-up movie my mom made me watch a bunch of times in the ’80s. (Don’t @ me. I was, like, seven. It wasn’t The Muppets, ergo boring.) She loved it. She probably still does. Will she love this remake? Who knows. I love that Colman Domingo is doing comedy. I don’t love that Netflix turned this movie into a series. It better only be four episodes.

Along with Colman Domingo, The Four Seasons stars Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Will Forte, Kerri Kenney-Silver (Reno 911!), Marco Calvani, and Erika Henningsen (Girls5eva).

The Four Seasons begins streaming on Netflix on May 1st.

Shadow Force is a terrible title that sounds like a free PlayStation game. But it has a fantastic cast. Double plus, it is not directed by The Russo Brothers! OK, it is directed by the guy behind Smokin’ Aces but we all kind of lowkey love that dumb movie, don’t we?

Kerry Washington, Omar Sy, Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Method Man star in Shadow Force.
It opens in theaters on May 2nd.

This week’s lagniappe looks legit frightening, and I love David Dastmalchian. He’s got a terrible track record of signing on to some B-grade horror movies, though, so Rosario remains suspect.
